Big Apple Bites: A Delicious NYC Food Week Recap

Updated: Feb 11

Waverley Inn

Just devoured a week in the city that never sleeps, and let me tell you, my taste buds are still singing! From iconic institutions to hidden gems, NYC's culinary scene did not disappoint. Buckle up for a mouthwatering journey through our foodie finds:

buratta, sourdough and balsamic glaze
Waverley Inn

🍲 @thewaverleyinnstagram  Waverley Inn is a NYC institution, dubbed by Donald Trump as having the "worst food in the city" and I disagree whole heartedly, as do a bunch of people who have been dining there for many years since it's opening in 2006, with the premises been a restaurant since 1920s. Bookings in advance are essential, and I'd recommend sitting in the dining area or back garden for full vibes. Great for a restaurant date night.

Steak tartar and other french food on a table
Buvette's

🥖 @buvettenyc Parisian perfection nestled in the West Village! The Coq au Vin and Steak Tartare were showstoppers, and we snagged a last-minute spot for prime people-watching on the sidewalk patio. Foodie heaven!

steak frites
Balthazar

🥩 @balthazarny Steak frites dreams come true at this bustling Soho gem. The lively atmosphere is part of the fun, and the outdoor seating was an absolute delight on a summer night. Definitely a post-shopping refuel must!

🍸@dantewestvillage is the sister of Dante NYC and is known as being one of the best bars in NYC. They are known for their martinis (a very good happy hour with $10 martinis!), but the restaurant is beautifully aesthetic, and the brunch was delightful. I'd love to return for dinner.

🍪 @levainbakery Calling all cookie lovers! These warm, gooey giants are worth every calorie. Trust me, you won't regret it. ❤️

🍝 @sanmatteopizzaespressobar  This Upper East Side fave delivered pizza and pasta perfection. The foil-wrapped spaghetti with fresh burrata was a winner, and the Aperol Spritz fueled our Manhattan explorations.

🧆 @auzaatar A lucky stumble upon this Lebanese gem! The beef topped hummus and falafel flatbread were exactly what we craved for a quick, delicious refuel. Hidden gems are the best kind, am I right?

No NYC trip is complete without indulging in its iconic bagels. We devoured our fair share from delis and Tompkins Square Bagels @tompkinssquarebagels and grabbed pizza slices from the legendary @marinarapizzanyc

This is just a taste of the culinary adventures NYC has to offer. Whether you're a die-hard foodie or just looking for a delicious bite, the city has something for everyone. So grab your fork, lace up your walking shoes, and get ready to explore the Big Apple's edible delights!

Other restaurants we will try next time:
