Every girl loves a good pasta, and Ciccio Mio does not disappoint! This modern Italian restaurant, hidden in a gorgeous historic building in Chicago's River North neighborhood, provides the right balance of classic Italian charm with enough modern twist to keep you intrigued.

First impressions

Picture this: you swan into Ciccio Mio, past the velvet ropes of a place that oozes old-school glamour - think twinkling chandeliers, gorgeous wall coverings, plush booths, and enough artwork to make an art gallery jealous.

Food

Let's talk about the real star of the show - the food. It's not your average spaghetti and meatballs joint (although, I have it on good authority that their meatballs are heavenly). We're talking about beautifully crafted Italian dishes that are both delicious and visually stunning. The Bolognaise Rotolo was a beautiful twist on a typical lasagna, and the Orechiette Pugliese had the perfect balance of spicy sausage and greens. The seafood and grilled meats also sounded divine, but for dinner with the girls, we opted for our much loved pasta without regret. Next time, I want to try their famous Bistecca Prime Porterhouse made to share, but I may need to bring some bigger eaters with me!

Wine

Wine list? More like a wine library! They've got bottles from every corner of Italy, ready to take you on a vino voyage. Whether you're a Pinot Grigio gal or a Barolo boss, there's something to tantalize your taste buds. And if you're feeling fancy, splurge on a bottle you can't pronounce - it's all part of the experience #WineNot

Service

The staff? They know their stuff, they're attentive without being overbearing, and they'll even help you decipher that hefty wine list.

Overall

Is Ciccio Mio worth the hype? Absolutely! It's a place where you can indulge in all the finer things: gorgeous ambiance, delectable food, and enough vino to make you forget about your day woes.

Pro tip: If you can't get a reservation ahead of time, place your name on the list in person, and enjoy a happy hour drink at either Bavette's or Gilt Bar next door until your table is ready. It's a win-win as these venues are equally worth the visit!

If you've been to Ciccio Mio, tell me what you thought! I'd love to hear from you xx
