Why I decided to share my life online

As a mid-30s woman navigating life's adventures far from my home country, I choose to share a lot of my world online. Recently, I've been asked what motivates me to do so, and why I bother to share my life so publicly, and it got me thinking. So let's dive in...

A digital record and connection

This digital space is my way of documenting my life's journey. From Parisian cafes to career milestones, this blog is my diary, a place to document my adventures, show proof of life to my friends and family afar, share my thoughts, and maybe even inspire someone along the way.

One thing I love hearing when I do see friends and family is their comments on activities they've seen me doing online - "I saw you were in Miami - tell me more about your holiday!" or "I've seen you have a great group of friends in Chicago - I'm so happy for you!". To me, this makes my home away from home feel very connected, and provides me a way to stay involved with the lives of those both near and far.

Finding my voice

As I've grown older, I've discovered a stronger voice and confidence, with a desire to share my thoughts on everything from fashion to travel to life's challenges. While many of my peers have chosen to reduce their use of social media, my own path has been the complete opposite, with a view to express my personality with a creative outlet which was previously untapped. As it turns out, I have A LOT to say about A LOT of things - sometimes to my demise! While not everyone will resonate with my perspective, my presence online allows me to express myself authentically and connect with those who care to follow along.

Sharing passions

Food, travel, fashion and embracing life to the fullest are passions of mine. I love sharing my discoveries - be it a hidden gem restaurant, a luxe purchase or a dream destination - why not share the joy of finding the best martini in NYC or the greatest shopping in Paris? I hope to inspire others to explore and enjoy the little and big things in life as much as I do.

A therapeutic outlet

Writing can be therapeutic and a creative outlet to break up my week, and allow me to have a fulfilling hobby outside of my day job. Sometimes, putting my thoughts into words helps me process things and gain clarity. Plus, it's a great way to work through those mid-30s existential crises...!

So, there you have it; sharing my life online allows me a blend of sharing experiences and a personal creative outlet. If you enjoy following along on my life's adventures, please let me know! I'm excited to continue sharing and connecting with friends and family around the world.
